Our civil engineering consultants get called upon to plan, design, organise and oversee the building and maintenance of public sector works and structures. Our clients include councils and regional authorities, developers and private landholders.

Our specialised teams can project manage the complete process or undertake specific aspects from initial feasibility studies to contract monitoring. Civil engineering consultancy projects have included:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
East Tamaki,
Auckland,
New Zealand

Description

NAL was engaged by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to carry out the civil engineering design and construction observation for the new meeting house building with associated car parking and landscape planting at 378-390 East Tamaki road, East Tamaki, Auckland.

The project involved designing the general site and earthworks, including soil erosion and sediment control, minimum floor levels and the formation of contours for the proposed parking area and building and to identify the need for and design of retaining wall structures. Our civil engineering consultants were also contracted for an assessment of the existing services: stormwater, wastewater and water supply management and design, underground services assessment, and on-site network, including power, comms and gas connection for the proposed design. We carried out overland flow path and flood analysis and pavement design for the public access way and car park area. We produced quality civil design drawings to New Zealand civil engineering specifications and standards.

Mangawhai,
New Zealand

Scope

Civil

Description

The Kaipara District Council required NAL to do a feasibility study and develop concept drawings for the sealing of the existing unsealed carpark at Mangawhai Activity Zone (MAZ) with stormwater drainage consideration.

The concept design process involved site investigations, including geotechnical inspections and reports on services such as stormwater, wastewater and water services and on environmental issues such as dust control and pavement design.

The completed feasibility report outlined the various options available to council and the advantages and disadvantages of each, including construction cost estimates and concept engineering drawings. The feasibility report provided an assessment of the existing parking and associated drainage infrastructure near the site and a determination of whether these systems were suitable for the proposed development.
